I just had all the same thing happen to me about my knee. I stumbled upon your blog because I was searching knee injuries. I just had an MRI and it didn't turn out well at all. Curious to know what your results are and what action you have to take. I apparently have a hole in my knee cap. After doing other races like Momar, or 52 miles mt biking, I hurt it on a 5k. a 5k!!! I Could cry about that. I will keep reading and hoping you get better results.

Well done Steve. I had no idea you were racing. Of course even if I did know, sadly I wouldn't have been able to come out to cheer you on since I was away. Anyways, sounds like you had a good time.

Seriously?! People were complaining about the water? That's crazy! If it's good enough for the general public, then it's definitely good enough for racers. People never cease to amaze me with the things they find to complain about.

I was surprised with your take on the 39 km water station though. Having been there yourself a couple of times as a racer - did anyone have to coax you to take some water? I know I didn't need any coaxing. :)

Sounds like a lot of fun, mostly. I would love to join you sometime, but it's just a matter of being able to get the time off from parenting. :) Likely wont happen this summer - it seems ALL of my weekends are spoken for already. D'oh!

Damn you Steve Meyer! Now I want to be an Iron Man too! This is exactly how I turned into a marathoner...you told me you ran a marathon and I figured, "If Steve can do it, why can't I?" :) Some day Steve - it just may be 10 years from now...

Another great race write-up Steve - thanks for that. As your title alluded to - tracking you guys on the website didn't tell the whole story, not even close to the whole story actually so it's nice to finally get the inside scoop.

Also - congrats on winning the Courage Award - that is an accomplishment in itself for sure and I'm sure you'll be defending it with all your effort next year. :)

Well spotted, captain anonymous. I did indeed have a transposition error. This has been rectified. However, when you consider the entire race field, I was in the top 5% in both my age group and males overall. Either way, those stats make me pretty happy!

Overall, I placed 182 in the race out of 7700+ racers! I was 25th in my age category of 500+. This apparently puts me in the top 0.5% of racers in this event.

26 out of 522 is top 5% in age group, not 0.5%.

Ha ha. Nice call Kev. I'm trying to think of a suitable sign-out to use each time I post. After all, since this is Activesteve, I need something snappy like that. That also reminded me of the old-school fitness challenges that we did in elementary school (and I recently saw referenced in an episode of corner gas). Do these ring a bell to anyone else: http://ruk.ca/article/1095 (check out some of the comments... man do they bring me back). On the plus side, I think I always got excellence. Makes me wonder why I waited till I was much older to get into endurance sports!?
