Greetings race fans. Welcome back to another riveting race tale. This particular narrative comes from the sunny and warm skies found in Negril, Jamaica, where I have just come back from participating in the 14th annual Reggae Marathon. So how exactly did I find myself in Jamaica for a brief 4-day reprieve from the Canadian winter? And how did I do in this hot weather? Well read on for the answer to those questions and several more that you haven’t even been asking yourself! A few months ago, a simple call out came via Get Out There Magazine, whom as […]

A mere 1 month after I ran in the County Marathon, I’m finally putting the words down to tell you the tale of the event. However, much more importantly on that weekend, Deanna and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary. I know, we’ve got a long way to go to catch up to many of you, but it was still pretty awesome to us! In case you are wondering, the notion of running a marathon that weekend actually came directly from Deanna. The idea was rooted in the fact that we first met while racing, and are always looking […]
You just never know how an adventure race will turn out when you start. This is especially the case in multi-day events, such as the 4-day staged Raid International Gaspesie that I most recently completed. Completion was far from certain. Good day all. An interesting thing happens when you start to do more and more endurance events. You can’t stop. If someone dangles a challenge out in front of you, you snap it up. You don’t do it for prizes, awards, or glory. You do it for you. You do it because you love every moment. The pain, the suffering, the elation, the views, the awaiting cold beer when it’s over. It weaves its way into becoming a part of who you are. I have fallen squarely in to the camp of endurance athlete if you will. Distances and durations […]
Every now and again, I head to a race with the specific intention of putting it all out there, and shooting for a win. This year’s Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race was one of those races. You’ve seen the video, but I figured some of you might also want my specific thoughts and reflections of this excellent event put on in the near-North of the Bruce Peninsula, and makes use of the famed Bruce Trail. While I didn’t take the top spot, I did manage a solid 3rd place in the long (100km) course, all while narrating and filming as I […]
