Welcome back! Today we put a wrap on the “O Circuit” of the Torres del Paine. We’ve already spent 6 days and 6 nights making our way around the mountains that frame the centrepiece of this parks’ namesake attraction. In this post, we’ll cover off on the final 3 days of hiking, culminating in our hike up to the visually stunning Torres. These are the majestic granite rock peaks that many dream of when they think of Patagonia. As this was our delayed wedding anniversary, we were looking forward to capturing our anniversary memory photo for the year. Of course, […]

After spending the first four days of the “O Circuit” in Torres del Paine mostly in our own little bubble and circle of co-trekkers, we were about to change gears slightly. Starting on Day 5, we would be joining up with the “W Trail” at Torres del Paine. This is by far the more ‘popular’ route at Torres del Paine, but in my opinion, only due to the fact that you can get the best sights the easiest on this route. While the O is all about self-reliance and a serious trekking option, the W caters much more to the […]
After spending over 5 total days basically in transit, it is finally time for this story to take us into the actual wilds of Patagonia. My next three blog posts will focus on our trek around the Torres del Paine National Park. This was the main goal of our trip, and what we’d been planning meticulously the past few months. In our case, we had decided to tackle what is known as the “O Circuit”, as it basically circumnavigates the entire main mountainous areas of the park. While the hiking itself overall wasn’t super complicated, the same can not be […]
Now that we’ve caught up on the Icelandic Adventures, it time to move onto the next exciting adventure that I haven’t written about yet. Where this time you ask? How about Patagonia, and the end of the World? This was one of those trips we’d dreamt of for some time, but had to work our way up to it. The reason for the delay was we needed to be comfortable with longer distance solo backpacking, as we we were tackling this one completely on our own. No guides, no tour groups, just backpacks, all the gear we’d need, and maps. […]
Welcome back to another race report from ActiveSteve! This time, we find ourselves heading to the beautiful Kimberley Alpine Resort for the 108km solo Black Spur Ultra. After having taken on both the Sinister 7 100 miler race and Canadian Death Race, it was time to check out the 3rd Ultra that is put on by Sinister Sports. It is no secret that I LOVE to visit and race in real mountains, so getting out to the Canadian Rockies is always a highlight of my race season. My past experiences in races put on by Brian have always been impeccable, […]
